bought two of the resort and cruise packages $400 but cant use them because Im married but don't live with my husband much less travel with him. I was just trying to be truthful when asked if I was married. Cant get a refund because I didn't try to make reservations until 30 days had already elapsed. I explained my marital situation to the but salesman when I bought the packages and he assured me that it would be fine but that I had to give my husbands name if I was married. I guess I should have lied. They did.

My wife and I have owned at Spinnaker for about 10 years. We have enjoyed many of their properties and have met some wonderful well intentioned people along the way.

Sadly, Today is a bad day for the organization. Nearly every phone call to owner services is a disaster. Even paying maintenance fees can be a disaster. One year they badgered me for months saying I was late when in fact I was paid ahead one full year, as I always do.

I don't mind the badgering so much as the arrogance that accompanied it, that was unbearable. Lastly we upgraded our ownership on the recommendation of a salesperson who lied about every detail of the sale, he told us we were getting a premium 2 bedroom for a regular two bedroom. Well, there is no such thing and they simple stole 5,000$ I guess they needed the money more than we did. We reported it to Spinnaker and they responded "We don't care about something that happened several years ago" That response is irresponsible and would not happen at Marriot or Wyndham where owner care actually is focused on the owners.

Our experience has taught us to stay away from this company.

Some day perhaps they will get it right, I hope so. sincerely

Don't ever buy a timeshare from any timeshare company!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Spinnaker Resorts has made no effort to contact us after we attempted again to deed our timeshare back to them. We were asked by one of your viewers if we had experience with these timeshare companies. The answer is yes, unfortunately. They promise you everything, a wonderful way to experience vacations. It is not true, any of it. There seems to be no way out, even if you offer to give your timeshare back to them. You can't sell it. It doesn't work at all for the owner. It is nothing more than a scam and a way for the timeshare company to finance new buildings, which are then sold to more unsuspecting buyers...it is a pyramid scheme that has been legalized in some states and a terrible contract for anyone to enter into. We are sure others are in this same position and hope there is a way out for us, without large additional costs, which Spinnaker has said will be required to get out of the timeshare contract.

My wife and I can't use the Spinnaker timeshare we paid $20,000 for approximately five years ago. We offered to deed it back to Spinnaker, asking for no payment in return. After waiting six months for a response, they said they would take the timeshare back, but we had to pay them $3,160. They used the reasoning that the payment would help pay for them to have time to resell the timeshare. We wrote back and offered to pay this year's HOA fee of $810, but not the additional arbitrary costs they were asking for. They didn't ever reject our offer, they just refused to respond to us at all. We would not recommend anyone enter into a timeshare with a company that tries to deal with its clients in this manner.

Haveing the same trouble with headquarters in SC. They said i could turn it back.

They would send papers to sign. Never got them. Now they will not reply phone calls or emails.

Stay away from all timeshares. Fees are always going up for so called updates to unit.

Hard sell at owner meetings. Do not attend unless you have money to burn.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
First they said they would rent my old timeshare and showed me some figures. Ok can you put that in the contract. No they say. The rental is not not done by Spinnaker but through a 3rd party. Third party is lingo which means you will get reamed. They wanted 26 grand for a condo week at Carolina Club. Carolina Club is lingo for a place no one wants. Then they showed me some figures which showed after down payment and deductions the remaining payment is 15,500 dollars and they would finance at 16 % interest. 16 % interest is lingo that you will double the amount owed. I refused the loan and they said I get financing myself and the payments would be around 130 dollars a month. 130 dollars a month is lingo that your payments will be triple this. I put in for a prequalified loan and the payments run about 350 a month.

Resolved: TeleMarketing was a TOTAL LIE!

Updated by user Oct 26, 2019

I was satisfied with our end result, enjoyed the 3 night stay, and felt I received value equal to my money spent.

Original review Oct 26, 2019
I was contacted by phone with an offer to visit Spinnaker resort in Hilton Head Island, SC. We have enjoyed shipyard resort in the past and I was intrigued.

I was very implicit that I would not be interested in staying in some hotel 10-15 minutes away, but at the resort. I was told that was not a problem and that I would also get a $150 check and $75 in dinning cash, a cruise and 4 nights at the resort and I paid $249.00. TOTAL CRAP! It was a nightmare making a reservation on the resort and then they cut my deal down to only a $50 check and 3 nights because it was not at the hotel.

This was completely opposite of what I was told.
We finally arrive at HHI and of course I'm still recalling the lies I was promised, but the actual presentation went fairly well. From the very onset I explained I had no interest in there offering and I never backed down on that assertion. The initial rep. Jesse brought in his manager and he was very pleasant, but he was also unable to show me the value of the offering.

We all shook hands after about 75 minutes and I received my $50 check and cruise and food vouchers. We cashed the check and spent the $$ at the Spinnaker resort. The Restaurant.com food vouchers are worthless basically as they all require $50 to save $25. Only about 25 restaurants listed in all of Atlanta and very few of them actually will accept the cards.

Maybe I'll use them at some point.

Still haven't attempted the cruise, but I'm pretty sure its a crock also.
My advice, pay for your vacation and stay away from anything associated with a timeshare experience. If you think its a deal, by from a reseller.

My husband and I visited here for the first time 2/16/2019. We were bamboozled into getting a time share only to find out that at the end of paying all of our payments we wouldn't own it. They lied to us and gave us false representation of what we thought we were getting. NEVER AGAIN

Walk away!! The sales pitches for short stays to see the resorts are full of lies.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was told we could stay at our choice of one their 4 resorts on the island. When we arrived all they had was SR Hotel. It has flooded and rooms smelled musty. We bought candles to mask the order. Sales rep at presentation was very rude. Mocked us for coming for "freebies". Hinted that he and his family were above that. He told us Spinnaker would never call again, but I cannot get them to stop calling.

Smoking policy

I need to find out exactly what the smoking policy is for Spinnaker.

Is smoking allowed?

Certain areas?

Not on private property?

Beach policy?

Please reply as soon as you can

years ago you could smoke on the balcony of your units but inside was always non smoking. now the entire building is non smoking but there are smoking areas provided outside and at bluewater down by the pier next to the fire pit.

this is common throughout timeshare industry and in most hotel chains as smoke lingers in units and some are allergic and its unsavory for those who come to use a unit and smell cig smoke in a unit. I appreciate the no smoking policy. I am a former cigar smoker but my family are all non smokers. I get it.

smoking is NOT allowed on the pool deck either btw. its offensive to people nearby. sorry.

finding a hotel or resort that allows smoking in units is extremely rare. hope that helps you.

I have owned for 8 years. They have been good to me. Oh, by the way they dont take them back unless you pay 3 to 4 grand. So dont sign for anything unless you understand what you are paying for. The sales presentations can be a little intimidating. If worse comes to worse just walk out and leave the gifts. They aren't worth buying something you dont want or cant afford. Happy vacations.

Bad experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
On initial sales call that lasted over a half hour, they started at a high cost after repeatedly saying no they came down to $150 for 3 nights at Hilton Head. When they went over the last questions I answered yes when they asked my income over $45000 that was not discussed in the long sales call. Now when I tried to book my stay they asked again and I said No and told them my real income. Bottom line they cancelled my trip and refused to return my money. That's fine as their web site is terrible and it's worth $150 not to be harassed for 2 hours. They should state their income and other qualifications at the BEGINNING of the call to save all the time listening to them reduce the cost after each NO, I'm not interested.

You can’t get a better bargain than a vacation than a vacation package that’s for sure! We went to Hilton Head Island and stayed at the S.R Hotel which is Newley renovated. The property was great, king room and touring the island was fantastic! Will be doing again

We also felt lied to. We turned in a time share to help purchase this time share, but were not told the whole truth.

It took them 2 years to sell our original time share and we had to keep paying the maintenance fees for the original time share as well as the current time share. Run if the opportunity comes to you to check out timeshares. DON'T EVEN CONTEMPLATE getting involved into buying one. Worse mistake of our lives and very costly.

Go on a cruise and book through the cruise website. Very economical and a whole lot less stress. Believe me, your kids won't want to pay the yearly fees or put up with the poor customer service.

Timeshares only think of themselves and how they can rip the money out of your wallet every chance they get. they are very deceiving in their presentations.
